In this Flash report, following our previously published report on Pemex, we take a closer look at two other Latin American state-controlled petroleum companies: Petrobras and Ecopetrol. Compared to Pemex, these two companies offer much better standalone credit and operating metrics. Moreover, we think their respective governments have adopted a more market-oriented approach in the management of these companies, which has resulted in better governance and more solid balance sheets compared to Pemex.
